Business network design for Portland-area organizations

Opening an office, adding a location or replacing a network that has grown difficult to support? Wolex turns business requirements into a documented network design your implementation team can use. We work with Cisco, Palo Alto, Juniper and mixed-vendor environments, with a scope agreed before engineering begins.

What to expect

Clear scope. Practical outcomes.

Every engagement begins with the current environment, business priorities and the evidence needed to make a defensible decision.

Start with the business requirements

Identify the applications, people, locations and devices the network must support. Review the available diagrams, equipment inventory, internet circuits and existing constraints before choosing a design.

  • Site and user requirements
  • Business-critical applications and voice traffic
  • Growth, availability and maintenance needs
  • Known gaps requiring a survey or further discovery

Design connectivity and security together

Define how traffic should move between users, servers, cloud services and the internet. Separate staff, guests and other device groups according to their actual access requirements.

  • Logical topology and network boundaries
  • VLAN and IP addressing plan
  • Routing, uplinks and resilience requirements
  • Firewall policy requirements and management access

Receive an implementable design package

Agree on the documentation your project needs. The design records the intended behavior, assumptions and decisions so the installer and the future support team share the same reference.

  • Network diagrams and design rationale
  • Device roles and capacity requirements
  • Dependencies and unresolved decisions
  • Implementation prerequisites and acceptance criteria

Choose the implementation arrangement

Your internal team or an existing provider can implement the design. Wolex can also quote a separate deployment engagement once the design, access, equipment and maintenance window are agreed.

  • Design review with your technical contact
  • A written scope and private quotation
  • Portland-area onsite work by arrangement
  • Remote design reviews where sufficient evidence is available

Useful scope, operating context and decision points for organizations evaluating this service.

A design should explain the decisions

A useful business network design explains how the chosen topology supports your applications, security requirements and available budget. For an office expansion, that may mean reviewing uplink capacity, switch ports and power requirements before adding users or access points. For a redesign, it may mean separating guest, employee and device traffic while preserving required application access.

Wolex records the assumptions behind the recommendation. Availability targets, expected growth, internet dependencies and the skills of the team maintaining the network influence the design. A simple arrangement that your team can operate may be more appropriate than a complex architecture with capabilities the business will not use.

Make the handoff useful to the implementing team

Diagrams, VLAN assignments and addressing plans must agree with one another. The package identifies device roles, allowed traffic flows, management access and any requirements that still need validation. When alternative approaches have meaningful cost or operational consequences, the recommendation explains the tradeoffs and the decision needed from your business.

Detailed wireless coverage surveys, application testing or additional discovery may be needed before a design can be finalized. Those activities are identified during scoping. Network design alone does not demonstrate that a live deployment has passed acceptance tests.

Local engineering with a defined project scope

Wolex Technologies is based in Beaverton and serves Portland, Hillsboro and surrounding communities. Seun Peters brings more than 20 years of network engineering experience, with CISSP and CCNP credentials. Work can support a business owner, internal IT team or existing technology provider.

Start with the business location, approximate device and user counts, the change you are considering and your preferred timing. We agree on discovery, deliverables and a review process before work begins. Sensitive diagrams and configurations are shared only through an agreed project channel, not the public inquiry form.

Frequently asked questions

Useful answers before we talk.

Can you redesign a network while keeping some existing equipment?

Yes. We review the equipment, supported features, capacity and lifecycle constraints before recommending what can remain. The design identifies limitations and dependencies rather than assuming everything must be replaced.

Does network design include cabling installation or hardware?

Design deliverables are agreed separately from equipment purchases, cabling, electrical work and deployment. We identify those dependencies so your project can assign each responsibility and obtain the appropriate quotations.

Can you design a network for a new office or additional location?

Yes. Share the location, approximate users and devices, applications, internet plans and intended opening date. Floor plans and existing documentation can be reviewed through an agreed secure process after scoping.

How is a network design engagement priced?

The quote depends on the sites, current documentation, discovery required, technical complexity and deliverables. Scope, price and timing are agreed before work begins. Ongoing managed services are not required.
