Network deployment and migration for Portland-area businesses

Bring a new network into service or replace existing switches and firewalls with a controlled change process. Wolex prepares configurations, coordinates the agreed maintenance window and validates the resulting connectivity. Cisco, Palo Alto and Juniper projects are scoped around your environment, access and business requirements.

What to expect

Clear scope. Practical outcomes.

Every engagement begins with the current environment, business priorities and the evidence needed to make a defensible decision.

Confirm readiness before the window

Review the approved design, equipment, licenses, software, backups and access. Identify dependencies such as internet circuits, cabling readiness, application owners and the people needed to make decisions during the change.

  • Agreed device and site inventory
  • Configuration backups and current-state baseline
  • Required credentials through an approved secure channel
  • Prerequisites and go/no-go decisions

Prepare the configuration and cutover

Map the intended behavior to the target equipment and prepare the change sequence. Where feasible, stage or test configurations before the live maintenance window.

  • Switch, routing and firewall configuration within scope
  • Port, VLAN and addressing mappings
  • Sequenced cutover tasks and named responsibilities
  • Rollback triggers, steps and decision time

Validate the business services

Check more than interface status. Compare the result with the agreed baseline and confirm that the users and applications covered by the scope can reach the services they need.

  • Management access and network reachability
  • Routing, VPN and firewall behavior as applicable
  • Agreed application and voice connectivity tests
  • Recorded exceptions and an acceptance decision

Hand over a supportable network

Provide the agreed configuration records, updated diagrams, change results and unresolved issues. Define the handoff and any follow-up work so the project has a clear completion point.

  • As-built documentation within the agreed scope
  • Validation results and remaining risks
  • Owner and support-team handoff
  • Separately agreed follow-up support if needed

Service guide

Details for an informed first conversation.

Useful scope, operating context and decision points for organizations evaluating this service.

Plan around the services the business needs

A switch replacement can affect more than the connected computers. Access points, phones, printers, management systems and downstream switches may depend on particular ports, VLANs or power settings. A firewall replacement can change routing, address translation, VPN behavior and application access. The implementation plan identifies the dependencies relevant to your scope.

The work begins with an agreed baseline and a target design. If those are missing, a preparation or design engagement may be required first. Device counts, site access, remote management, the maintenance window and the availability of application owners all affect the quotation and schedule.

Control the change and know when to roll back

The runbook assigns tasks, checkpoints and decision authority. It explains what evidence means the change is ready to proceed, which failures require investigation and when the remaining maintenance window is too short to continue safely. Rollback depends on usable backups, retained equipment or another recovery method agreed for the project.

No migration can promise that unexpected conditions will never occur. Documented prerequisites and validation checks make those conditions easier to recognize and manage. Any expansion of scope is discussed before additional work is authorized.

Scheduled Cisco, Palo Alto and Juniper engineering

Wolex supports network deployment projects in Portland, Beaverton, Hillsboro and surrounding communities. Remote implementation can be appropriate when access, recovery arrangements and local hands are available. Onsite work and evening or weekend windows are confirmed during scoping.

The project handoff gives your team the agreed records of what changed, which checks passed and what remains outstanding. An ongoing managed IT contract is not required to commission a defined deployment project. If you only need the planning documents, the migration preparation engagement is available separately.

Frequently asked questions

Useful answers before we talk.

Can you deploy a network designed by another engineer?

Yes, subject to a readiness review. The design, dependencies, supported hardware and acceptance checks must be clear before Wolex agrees to implement it. Any missing design work is identified and scoped first.

Can a switch or firewall migration happen after business hours?

Evening or weekend work can be arranged subject to availability and project readiness. The window, technical contacts and rollback authority are confirmed in advance. This is scheduled project work, not an emergency response service.

Is implementation included in migration preparation?

No. Preparation produces the agreed review and runbook. Configuration changes, cutover execution and post-change validation are a separate, authorized implementation scope with their own price and schedule.

Does deployment include hardware, cabling or a long-term support contract?

Equipment procurement, physical cabling, electrical work and ongoing managed services are not included unless explicitly quoted. The project scope identifies who supplies and completes each dependency.
